Our firewood operation starts in the field during our tree removal jobs. When our crew takes down a tree, the foreman evaluates the wood for firewood potential. Quality hardwood — oak, maple, birch, ash, cherry — gets separated from brush and low-value species. The wood is cut into 16-inch lengths on site and transported to our processing yard.
At the yard, logs are split using a hydraulic splitter to pieces that are 3 to 6 inches across — the optimal size for efficient seasoning and clean burning. Split wood is then stacked in rows with proper air gaps, oriented to maximize sun exposure and airflow. Oak seasons for a minimum of 12 to 18 months. Maple and birch season for 12 months minimum. We monitor moisture content with a pin-type moisture meter and do not sell any wood above 25 percent moisture.
When you place an order, we load your firewood onto our truck and deliver it to your property. Standard delivery means we dump the wood at your driveway or a location accessible to our truck. If you want the wood stacked, our crew will hand-stack it in your woodshed, along a fence line, near your fire pit, or wherever you prefer. We deliver in proper cord measurements — no guessing, no short stacks.
For customers who purchase firewood regularly, we offer a seasonal program. Order before September 1st for the upcoming heating season and we guarantee availability and priority delivery before the first cold snap. South Shore winters are unpredictable, and the customers who plan ahead never run short.
