ISA Workshop: Trees and StormsPrevention, Response and Recovery
ISA Certified Arborist Michael Casey travelled to Orlando in May to take part in a regional conference focused on the unique challenges trees face in storm zones. At the workshop, he gained greater knowledge on how to minimize storm threats to existing trees, manage the health of storm-damaged trees and how to create more storm-resilient landscapes.

Tree Spotlight:
Canary Island Date Palm
The Canary Island Date Palm is native to the Canary Islands, located off the northwestern coast of Africa and lives in Mediterranean wet-winter climates. Is it closely related to the true date palm and is often used as an ornamental landscape centerpiece. This palm is susceptible to fungal disease and must be pruned with caution as the sharp barbs on the fronds can be dangerous.
